They Shall Expel Demons - Derek Prince

"Exorcism" is definitely a cringe-worthy word. It brings up all sorts of disturbing images. But from a New Testament perspective, it is a normal, common, and powerful miracle. A healing miracle, both physically and spiritually.

Exorcism is such a strong word that the new term for expelling an evil spirit is "deliverace." When studying deliverance, you will invariably come across Derek Prince's name, as he is easily the most influential and one of the most reasonable modern deliverance ministers. He has already passed away, so there is not chance of some scandal that would discredit his good name. He has my full endorsement.

I have studied deliverance more than I ever thought I would, and this book is the best overall that I have read. It is to the point; it is not hyper-spiritual (meaning Prince does not see a demonic cause behind all evil and misfortune). It is practical. If you believe yourself or a loved one is going through a spiritual battle, whether the spirits are outside or within you, this book is for you.

There are quite a few resources that will prove or disprove that a believer can be "possessed." This is not one of those works. If you would like one of those resources, that carefully examines that issue, then take a look at Demon Possession and the Christian for a reasonable and scholarly approach to the debate.

However, most of you don't have to ask themselves if you can be "possessed." If ths post caught your eye, you simply know it's true. You hear the voices. You feel the impulse to sin. You hear your addiction calling your name. You feel your thoughts being pulled and pushed toward evil, disturbing thoughts. You know there is a spiritual force that keeps medical treatments from healing you. You feel seduced by Suicide and Depression, and you want to say "Legions of Suicide and Depression, in the name of Jesus Christ, I command you to come out of me!"

Exorcism is not complicated. It is certainly difficult--but it is simple, and well worth the study, and hopefully the practice. Even if you are not personally engaged in a spiritual battle, you cannot be sure that you never will be, or that you will not know anyone else who is.

Therefore, I recommend this book to all Christians and also to non-believers. In the New Testament until today, there are few things that are a more powerful glorification of the Name of Christ than to see the demons cower at his Name.
